right now. there are reports of a school shooting in new town, connecticut. at the sandy hook elementary school. officials are saying there is not much information but we are getting this from our local fox affiliate, fox 61 there. they say police are reporting a number of injured parties. we are not sure if they are adults or children. they say the nature of the injuries is not clear. we are getting the information into our newsroom. students are apparently being escorted from the building in groups. there is a staging area that has been set up for parents who naturally will be terrified to receive this news, and the police are on the scene. so we will bring you any more information as soon as we have it on this unfolding story. bill: back to that in a moment. in the mean time a powerful earthquake a few hours ago hitting the southern california coast and off the western coast of mexico here. 6.3 magnitude, about 2:30am local time, about 5:30 here on the east coast. about 160 miles off the coast of san diego here and local news reports say that folks in long beach and newport beach in s

tragedy at newtown, connecticut and the picture, the first grade picture has been released and just drives home the incredible loss and tragedy. this was one classroom and now the name, vicky soto's class, the 27-year-old teacher who had the zest for life who was killed. and many cite her as a hero and half of the class was saved and the story goes, we don't know, this is reported by six and seven year olds and the story was vague, she apparently hid them all in a closet and when she was killed, when she confronted the gunman and told them that she had sent them to the auditorium, she was killed and when some of the kids heard the gunshots, they ran out and they were killed. >> clayton: and olivia engel, apparently this photo was released by olivia's mother and appeared in the new york post this morning and as we continue to talk about what unfolded that day and of course, you look at the horrible images and many people were reminded what happened and unfolded in columbine, of course. then on friday, this was exacerbated this discussion about gun control and whether or not there should be

changed as well. it's my understanding the state of connecticut had the type of gun laws that have been proposed and they didn't work. at the end of the day it's an individual person, it's a people problem. and changing laws doesn't necessarily change hearts. it is a cultural problem as well. that's why i don't think we need to change these laws but we need to look at an issue of society where violence has become acceptable in many avenues and simply need to turn on the television many nights to see that. the first question was about the top 2% and class warfare and what is going on. but clearly 70% of americans take more from washington than they give. here we are as republicans upsets me that with the vote today and with the offer of speaker john boehner we've given into what the president has agreed. we have to go after the so-called rich. but as i indicated earlier, 41% of small business income is going to be taxed at a higher rate. and so this is just not the warren buffetts of the world. this is actually entrepreneurs that are actually paying income taxes on -- it stays in their b
